A free medical camp for the families we support

A weekend camp offered general consultations, child health checks and free medicine to families on our list.

We ran a free medical camp over the weekend for families on our list and their neighbours. Volunteer doctors saw patients for general consultations, child health checks and blood pressure and blood sugar screening, and medicines were given out on site at no cost.

Why we run camps

Most of the families we work with put off seeing a doctor because of the cost, and by the time they do, the problem is harder and more expensive to treat. A camp removes both the fee and the journey.

What happens next

Patients who need specialist care, surgery or ongoing medication were referred on, and we cover the cost where a family cannot. Someone from the team follows up on each referral rather than assuming it was acted on.

Our thanks to the doctors, pharmacists and volunteers who gave up their weekend.
