120 students join our 2026 scholarship cohort
This year's intake is our largest yet, with places prioritised for girls at risk of leaving school after grade five.
One hundred and twenty students started the 2026 academic year with Azra Safdar Foundation support this month, the largest intake since the project began.
Places were allocated after home visits to 340 applicant families across Faisalabad. Priority went to households where a child was already working part-time, and to girls in grades five and six, the point at which drop-out rates rise most sharply.
What the place covers
Each place covers a full academic year:
- Admission and tuition fees paid directly to the school
- Two uniforms, shoes and a school bag
- All required textbooks and stationery
- A monthly stipend of PKR 3,000 for the highest-need households
The stipend matters more than it might appear. For families where a twelve-year-old could otherwise earn at a workshop or in the fields, it offsets the income the household gives up by keeping that child in class.
Following the cohort
We check in with every supported family twice a term. Attendance below eighty percent triggers a home visit rather than a withdrawal of support, because the reason is almost always something we can help with: an illness in the family, a move, or a fee the school added mid-year.
Results from the 2025 cohort will be published alongside the audited annual report later this year.
